Rezumat

Introduction. The survival of children with cerebellar tumors has increased, the average survival at 5 years is 75%, and in the case of benign tumors, the survival at 20 years after diagnosis reaches 97%. Each patient has different symptoms depending on the size, location, type of tumor and type of surgery. The aim of the work. Identification and evaluation of neurological problems in children with operated cerebellar tumors. Material and methods. The anamnestic, clinical and paraclinical data of 30 pediatric patients operated on with a cerebellar tumor between 2001 and 2022 were collected. The patients were examined in the late postoperative period between 2017 and 2022, by the clinical method, electroencephalography, vegetative evoked potentials, neurocognitive and neuropsychological tests. The data obtained in the study were statistically processed through the Quanto program. Results. It was found, severe neurological motor disorders - in 27% of patients, moderate - 40%, mild - 33%; pronounced orthostatic intolerance – 67%, moderate – 23%, mild – 10%; expressive language deficit – 57%, difficulties in spontaneous conversation – 40%; attention deficits, mental flexibility – 93%; emotional lability – 60%; increased sensitivity, exaggerated or diminished behavioral reaction – 50%; lack of empathy – 40%; aggression or anger, irritability – 30%. Conclusions. Neurological, cognitive, and neuropsychological deficits are the most disabling long-term sequelae of cerebellar tumors and can affect multiple domains of development and functioning in children, resulting in poor quality of life. The spectrum of neurocognitive disorders varies from deficits in school activity to severe dysfunctions that cause a variable degree of disability, with limitations in everyday activities.
