Rezumat

Introduction. One of the instrumental examination methods commonly used in children with cerebral palsy (CP), to recognize the etiology of this disease, is brain MRI imaging, which also suggests the prognostic potential in the neurodevelopment of these patients. The goal: to study the type of imaging presentations in patients with cerebral palsy to determine the prognosis in neurodevelopment. Material and methods. Over a period of 3 years (20182020) were analyzed 78 imaging results of children with various forms CP (age over 5 years): tetraplegic CP (CPT) – 28 cases, hemiplegic (PCH) – 26 cases, diplegic form (CPD) – 24 cases. The imaging results were analyzed by a specialist trained in the field. Statistical method: Quanto program. Results. Estimates have notified brain structural abnormalities relevant to spastic CP in 72 (92.3% [II 99.1995.61], p = 0.01) cases. Among these patients, in those with CPT – changes were detected in all children (28 cases); in those with CPD-in 22 (91.7% [I 97.34 – 86.06], p = 0.05) cases; in PCH-in 25 (96.2% [I 99.97-92.43], p = 0.01) cases. Frequently found: ventriculomegaly (55.1%) – in PCT and PCD, cerebral atrophy (53.8%) – in CPT, unilateral porencephalic brain cyst (30.8%) – in PCH; bilateral cysts (29.5%) with various localizations (cortical – 30.4% in CPT and subcortical – 69.6% in CPD). Other abnormalities encountered: atrophic lesions in the basal and thalamic ganglia region (5.1%); diffuse porencephaly (2.6%), periventricular gliotic changes (17.9), etc., which did not correlate with spastic CP type. Conclusions. It has been found that, brain structural abnormalities are common CP, being varied, can be correlated with various types of CP, and early detection of these changes can be useful in determining the remote prognosis of the disease and the correct management of affected children.
