This article is a doctrinal analysis of the concept of institutional development, but at the same time it is an analytical material of the authors’ vision on the particularities of institutional development in higher education institutions. Institutional development is not a one-time event, but an ongoing process. Higher education institutions must be vigilant and pro-active in their efforts to adapt and evolve, and must be able to respond quickly and effectively to changes in their environment. They must also be able to anticipate and plan for future trends and challenges and position themselves to take advantage of new opportunities.

Acest articol este o analiză doctrinară a conceptului de dezvoltare instituțională, dar concomitent cu aceasta este un material analitic al viziunii autorilor asupra particularităților dezvoltării instituționale în instituțiile de învățământ superior. Dezvoltarea instituțională nu este un eveniment unic, ci un proces continuu. Instituțiile de învățământ superior trebuie să fie vigilente și pro-active în eforturile lor de adaptare și evoluție și trebuie să fie capabile să răspundă rapid și eficient la schimbările din mediul lor. De asemenea, trebuie să fie capabile să anticipeze și să planifice tendințele și provocările de viitor și să se poziționeze pentru a profita de noile oportunități.
