Some aspects of the formation of historiographical traditions in the light of the opportunistic development of modern society are considered. Using the example of documents about the Tatarbunar uprising of 1924, the historiographical context formed immediately after the events, depending on the "civil" or "ideological" position of the authors, is considered. In the light of the above data, the author proposes to define the research tasks of comprehensive coverage of historical events and from the standpoint of humanism.
