Rezumat | ||||||
George A. Petre was one of the most striking voices of the national affirmation of the Bihor Romanians in the interwar period. A good part of his publishing activity was circumscribed to the anti-revisionist positions of Hungary, being one of the most vehement opinion makers in this regard. During the entire interwar period, George A. Petre stood out in a special way, under his own signature or under the pseudonym Alter Scotus, with a special energy against the anti-Romanian policies of the regent of Hungary, Horthy Miklós, and the Jewish excesses he claimed against the Romanians in a period in which the domestic and international atmosphere was favorable to this discourse, but also to the need to affirm the national culture on Romania’s western border. He was also the editor of the third series of Familia magazine, where he mainly wrote reports. He contributed to the development of the Crișana Almanac Monograph, having completed three novels and a picturesque monograph of the city of Oradea around the time of the war. |
