A thorough study of the criminal phenomenon determines the establishment of the causes of the crime. The concept of „crime as a manifest” describes the causes, purpose, methods and means of committing terrorist attacks caused by the desire of criminals to promote a philosophical, political, or religious concept. A clear example of the promotion of a philosophical concept through the commission of a crime is the terrorist attacks committed by Theodore Kaczynski in the period from 1978 to 1995 to advocate the environmentally friendly policies. In this study, we examined the purpose, the reason for the commission of the crime, the psychological state of the offender, as well as the means used in the commission of terrorist attacks. The scientific novelty of this article is manifested in the analysis of the philosophical motives of terrorist attacks, including in the appeal to the theories of new criminology formulated by Ian Taylor, Paul Walton and Jock Young. |
