Rezumat

The importance of securing information stems from the internal and external aspects of national security and is intended to protect the security of the information space, the country’s cultural heritage, but also special information, which make up state and professional secrets. In a broader sense, it means suppressing the unfavorable effects of information-propaganda influence on the citizens of one or another state, related to the spread of ideas hostile to state interests, traditions of national culture, identity and legal order. The lack of protection capabilities against misinformation is largely affected by the exercise of human rights and fundamental freedoms through online platforms. In these conditions, the adjustment of the national legal framework to the European standards on the dimension of respect for human rights in the information space is an indisputable priority for the Republic of Moldova. The paper analyzes many aspects of information space security as an important element of state security. Information security means ensuring the information space and involves the information-technological component in addition to the informationpsychological one. Foreign influence on public opinion and mentality could be achieved using many effective methods. The manipulation of public opinion through the control of national media as well as through the rebroadcasting of foreign channels on the national territory can be applied. The correct regulation of the functioning of the media, according to national interests, is closely linked and depends organically on the intensity of the spread of the information globalization process, as well as on the level of the media culture of the population.
