Rezumat

Current article elaborates on several aspects of music perception. It encompasses three main aspects: human perception, certain music elements, and historical transformations based on the evolution of music theory. These three aspects play an important role in understanding music progression and perhaps the evolution of human perception as well. The aim of this article is not to provide a psychological explanation of human reaction to the music, but rather to follow the idea of music phenomena explanations throughout time. Such perspective is observed via the subjective and the objective aspects of perception. At the same time, current article focuses on objective features, without disregarding subjective phenomenon. Music elements are described according to how they were understood during each era and the way they were explained by several remarkable theorists. Different interpretation that theorist provide constitutes the basis of historical evolution of musical thinking and understanding that elucidates some aspects of perception in music.
