Rezumat

The principle of human dignity represents the axiological foundation of the entire law system. This principle is inherent in the human being from the conception, being inalienable and protecting the human lifelong. Human dignity is the basis for the exercise of other rights, including the right to life, physical and mental integrity, the right not to be subjected to torture, inhuman and degrading treatment. We should note that the practice of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment seriously violates the principle of human dignity, and the effective realization of this principle is possible only under the condition of the com-plete eradication of the practice of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment in the peniten-tiary system. This study represents the analysis of the absolute interdiction of torture, inhu-man and degrading treatment as a practical realization of the principle of human dignity.
