Rezumat

Introduction: This study is the first step in studying the psychological characteristics of children and adolescents who are diagnosed with epilepsy or non-epileptic psychogenic seizures. Severe psychogenic factor plays an important role in the onset of seizures and can determine the clinical picture of the disease. Psychogenic seizures-are seizures where the trauma is not only a trigger mechanism but also a major factor in development of seizures.Treatment of these forms of epilepsy with drugs is not sufficient. The complex treatment includes special therapeutic measures, especially psychotherapy. Material and Methods: The study included 30 children and adolescents, 15 of whom were diagnosed with epilepsy. For the assessment of mental status, children were surveyed by the Life Experience Questionnaire (LEQ) and the Freiburg Personality Inventory. Were used psychological tests with the drawing "My family", "The person under the rain". Results: People who have experienced seizures more frequently have recalled traumatic events - criminal incidents (participants or witnesses), physical violence, parental divorce, etc. This allows us to say that the experience of psychic trauma in childhood can be a "platform" for the development of psychogenic seizures. Conclusions: The description of psychological experiences and problems associated with the evolution of epilepsy symptoms forms a wide range of tasks for research, which in the future could help identify an approach to the psychological adaptation of the child and his / her family.
