Rezumat

Aim: the paper presents the interest of SEEHN in transfusion blood safety, as stipulated in EU directives, and SEEHN-official documents: the Dubrovnik Pledge (2001), the Skopje Pledge (2005), and the Banja Luka Pledge (2011) according to the SEEHN Memorandum of Understanding (2008). Material and method: in order to get the information about each of the 10 countries which compose the SEE network, was built (by SEEHN-Blood Safety Regional Heath Development Center. WHO, EDQM/CoE, and international experts) a skeleton for a National Report aiming to bring together the South Eastern Europe (and beyond) common and specific features, to assess and develop a logical, professional regional strategy till 2020, in blood donor management in certain medical conditions. Results: The collected data were presented to an international meeting in Oradea (Romania), with representatives from the SEE level, and identified the current issues. Conclusion: along other outcomes, as an e-platform for regional collaboration, was edited a booklet, “Current Status and Future Strategies in Safe Blood and Blood Components Transnational Availability for Medical Emergencies and Special Circumstances, in South Eastern Europe”, as reference for further activities, in this field.
