Rezumat

Clay figurines are one of the most interesting parts of the material complex from the Cucuteni-Trypillia settlements. Sabatynivka-type settlements in the Middle Buh area also include this type of findings. Berezivska HES is well known Sabatynivkatype site in publications. According to the latest radiocarbon dates, this site dates 2nd part of the 5 millennium BCE. Previously, clay figurines from the Sabatinivkatype settlements were described as having some peculiar differences. The Odessa Archaeological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine preserves a collection of anthropomorphic clay figurines from the excavations of 1963-1965 (excavations of V. P. Tsubeskov). The collection of the museum’s funds includes 24 anthropomorphic statuettes and their fragments. Anthropomorphic figurines are decorated with an incised ornament that was filled with white paste. This combination of elements is common and is also similar to the sites from the Middle Buh area. Such elements include spiral elements and rhomb. For this figurines are typically depicted and elongated shoulder protrusions, schematic representation of the head, and steatopygia (typical of Cucuteni A-Trypillia BI stage). Some finds show cavities in the abdomen/womb and the lower part of the statuettes. Most anthropomorphic figures are presented in standing position. The findings from the collection are mostly fragmented.
