One of the causes of chronic pain symptoms of the musculoskeletal system in the absence of an obvious lesion may be altered muscle activity (protective reflex muscle response) to previous injuries, operations, burns, etc. A receptor zone with increased sensitivity (increased threshold of excitation) can lead to an inadequate reflex response (hypotonia of associated muscles and muscle hypertension - overload of compensatory muscles). As a result of functional weakness, the associated muscles with the injured area will have a hypo- or hypermyotatic reflex, which will lead to a change in statics and dynamics and the occurrence of an overload of other regions that will compensate for the weakness of the injured weakened region. If the signal from the altered receptor zone causes functional weakness of the associated muscles, then for correction it is necessary to change the protective reflex to neutral, which will restore the sensory-motor balance of the region, and accordingly, the need for compensatory mechanisms will disappear and optimal statics and dynamics will be restored.
