„Bloody Saturday” on the 9-th of January, 1905 marked the beginning of a tumultuous period in the history of the Russian Empire, which ended with three revolutions. The revolutionary movement had important repercussions for Bessarabia, giving at the same time birth to a strong national current emancipation. The National democratic group had developed an ample reform program, that included the of the former autonomy from the 1818, usage of Romanian language in administration, universal suffrage, civil liberties, the solution of the agricultural problem. The national was composed of the intellectuals, priests, students and pupils. Spiritual schools, pedagogical seminars and anovement Chişinău theological seminar students also participated actively in the revolutionary current. |
