Rezumat

The role of migrant workers’ income in social and economic development of region is defined. The main problematic points of legalization and use of labour migrants’ income, particularly in keeping records of money transfers are outlined. Current measures of the state and its regions (by the example of Ukraine) to rise effectiveness of use of migrant workers’ incomes and their investment in the economy are analyzed. Based on the results of sociological survey structural and purposeful distribution of financial assistance of migrant workers from Ukraine by expenditure items is done (improvement of living conditions; the costs associated with getting education of family members; purchase durable goods; ensuring the wellbeing of families; purchase of real property, etc.). It’s emphasised that the small share of labour migrant’ income is used for doing business and the main measures encouraging migrant workers to invest in the regional economy are proposed. Special attention is paid to the need of defining the priority sectors of regional economy, where migrants, while returning to the country, may do business, including farming, tourism and trade.
