Transition to a circular economy become a critical challenge for many countries of the world, taking over new and new territories and representing a major issue for governments, researchers and business activities. A key step in this transition is efficient waste management, which is one of the key tasks in the process of adapting economies to a new circular model for business, in order to meet both societal challenges related to sustainable development and the need to increase the added value of the products by eliminating waste production as much as possible. The enterprises activity in this process practically has a central role, representing in fact, on the one hand, the main polluters and waste generators and on the other hand, one of the basic channels of communication with final consumers, which needs to be educated, supported and motivated to actively participate in the waste reduction process. The paper deals with waste management in enterprises, the importance of this process, highlighting the key objectives of waste management and the interaction of industry with the environment, while addressing the current situation in the field in the Republic of Moldova. |
