Background. The annual increase in the number of methicillin-resistant staphylococcal (MRS) strains and the emergence of strains resistant to reserve antistaphylococcal antibiotics include this pathology among emerging infectious diseases. Objective of the study. Determining the degree of spread of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus strains in the multiannual dynamics in multiprofile medical institutions in the Republic of Moldova. Material and Methods. Were analyzed antibioticograms of 11 803 Staphylococcus strains isolated from patients with septic-purulent infections (PSIs) from two multi-profile medical institutions for a period of 6 years (2014-2019). Isolation of staphylococcal strains and determination of methicillin resistance was performed both by the classical method and by the automated VITEK system. Results. The ratio of Staphylococcus strains in the etiological structure of PSIs in multiprofile medical institutions, according to the results of the study, is - 24.15%. At the same time, it was found that the ratio of MRS among Staphylococcus strains is 40.5% (95 CI 39.6-41.4) on average. In the multiannual dynamics, the situation with PSIs caused by MRS is getting worse, the ratio of MRS strains in the etiological structure of Staphylococcus infections being increasing, from an average of 29.6% (95 CI 27.9-31.4) in 2014, to at 55.9% (95% CI 53.4-58.4) in 2019. Conclusion. The degree of methicillin resistance of Staphylococcus strains in multiprofile hospitals in the Republic of Moldova is high, being increasing in the multiannual dynamics. |
