During the Stalinist period, Moldavian SSR officials committed serious crimes against the population. The officials made no effort towards democratization and decommunization the country even after the Declaration of Independence. The victims of the Famine of 1946–1947 have not been morally rehabilitated even until now. In the Republic of Moldova, the education of a culture of memory is not a complex process in which different structures are involved, such as: the state, academia and civil society. Political factors influenced the lack of consensus on the communist past. Under the pretext of reconciling with this past, some politicians have an interest in silencing the dark pages of communist history and forgetting the traumatic moments of famine |
