In this article, the author addresses the issue of asserting local autonomy in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe since the 1990s. The challenges that emerged in the process of moving from a centralized administrative system to a decentralized form are examined. Inherited from the centralist tradition of the states of Central and Eastern Europe, the multiple deficiencies have seriously marked the process of consolidating the local and regional autonomy. At the same time, everyone who supports the principle of subsidiarity in Europe must also guarantee local self-government for the internal organization of the state. |
