Rezumat

Non-governmental organizations are beginning to play an increasingly active role in addressing current global issues, such as: combating underdevelopment, poverty and disease, promoting and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, protecting the environment, maintaining collective peace and security. Strengthening civil society against various challenges and threats has led to the development of the non-profit sector, the so-called third sector, which has become a powerful mechanism in solving social problems. Throughout its evolution, non-governmental organizations have become increasingly important investors, especially in historical periods, when the power and capabilities of states were in a crisis and economic decline, for example, after the Second World War. Currently, in the Republic of Moldova operates more than 400 non-governmental organizations in various fields such as: agricultural, cultural, economic, ecological, regional and community development, charity, health care, volunteering and others. All this contributes to the improvement of living conditions, especially of the disadvantaged sections of the population, people in rural areas, and other groups vulnerable to the high demands of the contemporary world.
