Though infection of the knee after arthroplasty is a relatively rare complication, its devastating consequences for the patient in terms of morbidity and even mortality warranted an examination of the infectious complications of patients who received a knee arthroplasty in the authors’ clinic. This clinical-statistical study was made of patients suffering degenerative conditions of the knee between June 2006 and January 2008. We included in the study patients who underwent surgery for knee arthroplasty as a mean treatment method. Of the 114 surgical procedures 88 were primary interventions. Of 6 infectious complications only 1 required reintervention for revision, the remainder involved only the soft tissues. Treatment of the infection after total knee arthroplasty must be carefully planed and correlated with an accurate clinical and laboratory diagnosis. For most soft tissue infections antibiotherapy and local asepsis suffice.

Первичный артроз коленного сустава встречается всë чаще, особенно в пожилом и старческом возрасте. При этой патологии успешно применяется эндопротезирование коленного сустава. Были проанализированы результаты лечения (за период 2006-2008 гг.) 114 больных, 88 из них была произведена операция первично. У 6 пациентов эндопротезирование коленыного сустава осложнилось инфицированием мягких тканей сустава, за исключением одного случая, который потребовал повторного хирургического вмешательства.
