Rezumat

In this communication is presented the case of Moldavian boyars family Ciolacoglo, which members in the early XIX century tried to gain the status of Bessarabian nobles. Their representatives father Constantin and son Dmitrie (1797-1867) were of Greek origin and came from Rendina, Thessaly region. In family documents, they used to mention that take their origin from "noble Greek families". It is unclear when they emigrated in Moldavian Country. For his diligent service in the courtyard of Moldavian ruler - Constantin was named in the function of butler and handealed gathering the taxes from pothouses and Dmitri received the title of cupbearer in 1817 and was responsible for rulers beverage. After the suppression of the Greek uprising of 1821, Dmitry was forced to emigrate in Bessarabia. On September 4, 1843 he entered into the obedience of Russian Empire. On September 7 of the same year, in order to be registered in the book of the nobility, he appealed to Chamber of Nobility Deputies from Bessarabia. But his file was returned by the Department of Heraldry of the Russian Senate. Such an attempt to be recognized in the noble title, also was made at October 29, 1894 by the son of Dmitry - Dimitrie, born in Sculeni village on May 11, 1845. In Chisinau Dimitrie was a guild merchant. At December 17, 1897 the Department of Heraldryfor the second time returned the dossier concerning Ciolacoglo nobility. This was argued by the fact that was not clear precisely when his grandfather Constantin received the title of butler. Another reason is the law, in accordance to which that the title of Noble could be confirmed to all Moldovan boyars who have received their titles until 1812 and those who had certificated diplomas from issued Moldovan Divan after 1812 (it was foreseen the case of Constantin, father of Dmitry cupbearer) – and there should have been indicated the first representative of the family who was granted with the title of noblemen. This fact, however, lacked from the certificate which Dmitry cupbearer had in possession.
