Rezumat

The study shows the analysis of another batch of Roman mortars (see Table 1) taken from various structures of the Drobeta Roman Castrum, as well as from the surviving structure of the Danube Bridge in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. The aim of the analysis is to help clarify the technology used for construction of the structures and their chronological placement through spectral, XRD and thermoanalytical techniques. This paper also highlights the complementary nature of the various techniques: XRD for the identification of major crystalline phases, FT-IR for a more detailed evaluation of the composition comprising non-crystalline and TGA phase for the quantitative determination of volatile phases (especially CO2 and H2O).tabel
