In this article Gagauz manuscript tradition, represented by a specific genre of religious literature – the apocryphal texts, is studied as a historical and ethnographic source, as a monument of cultural history, which reflects the reconstructed picture of the world, notions of good and evil, virtue and sin, heaven and hell, etc. The analysis of lexis used in the Gagauz texts showed that they contain a lot of words and expressions from the Moldovan / Romanian language, which, by the author s opinion, points to the source from which the translation was made. |
