Rezumat

AgeSoya company specializes in soybean breeding and seed production. To create new varieties, AgeSoya does not apply methods of genetic transformation of plants. In 2011, when the company started its activity in Poland, soybean crops occupied 200 ha as a whole in the country (GUS, 2011). By now, due to the active promotion of this crop by AgeSoya, the area under soybean grew to 30,000 ha in Poland. The company's aim is to create high-yielding soybean varieties, adapted to environmental conditions and resistant to diseases, suitable for the food industry, with a high protein content. Varieties of AgeSoya breeding have a high yield potential (over 4 t / ha). The height of the attachment of a lower pod is10-20 cm, depending on the variety. Our varieties are resistant to lodging and to diseases. They have high protein content in seeds (35 – 45 %). They are resistant to cracking of pods and shedding of seeds. Most of the pods form 3-4 seeds. This feature allows to realize high variety productivity. The AgeSoya varieties have a light yellow seed coat throughout its thickness. This sign is important for the food industry. Currently, the company has 10 highly productive varieties, which are listed in the European variety register. Another 11 varieties undergo the testing procedure in the EU countries and 8 varieties are tested outside the EU. In the climatic conditions of Poland at early stages of development, the sprouts of soybean suffer from low temperatures and are at risk of infection by pathogens. AgeSoya company initiated the idea of creating a biopolymer coat for seed protection during the germination period. The project BIOSOYCOAT is dedicated to the solution of this problem and has united 4 research organizations of Poland in the scientific consortium: Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (Puławy), Institute of Biopolymers and Chemical Fibres (Łódź), Scientific Research Center of Soya Development „AgeSoya” Sp. z o.o. (Huta Krzeszowska), University of Rzeszów. The project was highly appreciated by the National Centre for Research and Development of Poland and received additional financing by the BIOSTRATEG program. To implement the project BIOSOYCOAT our company offered to use 7 varieties: Annushka, Mavka, Violetta, Atlanta, Madlen, Lajma, Smuglyanka. These varieties are excelled in a number of valuable adaptive and economic features. This research was supported by the National Centre for Research and Development of Poland (project acronym: BIOSOYCOAT, duration of the project 2017-2020, contract no. BIOSTRATEG3/346390/4/NCBR/2017).
