Rezumat

This article analyses the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Unionfrom the moment of the launching of the European Neighbourhood Policy until the signing ofthe Association Agreement. The 2004 and 2007 wave of the EU led to a reassessment of thesecurity strategy of control the EU’s external borders and, thus, the countries in theneighbourhood of the Union have been proposed to work with the EU in several areas.  The launching of the European Neighbourhood Policy and the signing of the Moldova-EUAction Plan, by which Moldova is invited to establish political, security, economic relations with the EU, and to share responsibility for conflict prevention and resolution, represents an important moment in strengthening relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. The dialogue between Chisinau and Brussels intensified with the inclusion of the Republic of Moldova in the Eastern Partnership and the establishment of pro-European governance in the Republic of Moldova, which clearly outlined the country’s pro-European orientation.  The intensification of the dialogue with the EU was followed by concrete results, so that, after only four years of talks with Brussels, the Republic of Moldova signed the Association Agreement and became the first country in the Eastern Partnership to have visa-free regime with Europe.
