Rezumat

The commune of Iecea Mare is located in the north-west of Timiș county, 36 km from Timişoara, and it consists only of the village of residence with the same name, being established on the basis of Law no. 84/2004, separating from the Cărpiniș commune. The first documentary attestation with the name Uche dates from 1317, the settlement existed throughout the Middle Ages as shown by numerous medieval documents that mention Wche (1417), Ewcze (1467), Eqche (1479), but today's village was founded in 1767 by the German colonists from Lorraine, Luxembourg, Trier, Bavaria, etc., so that in 1779, when the locality was annexed to the Torontal county, it appeared with the name Gross Jetscha - Iecea Mare. The cadastral territory of 3509 ha is composed of 3273 ha (93.27%) representing agricultural land, 2 ha (0.06%) being occupied by forests, these being present in the Jimbolia-Cărpiniş-Biled Plain and its connection to the Beregsău Plain-Bega. It has the following neighbors: - to the northwest – the town of Lenauheim; - to the north – the town of Sandra; - to the northeast the town of Biled; - to the south and southeast – the locality of Carpinis; - to the south-west – Jimbolia locality. The town is located in the hydrographic basin of the Bega river, the Beregsău basin, the territory of the commune is not crossed by any natural water course, having a dense network of canals, especially drainage, generally executed in the direction of old meanders or roofs, having a variable flow, usually higher in spring and lower in summer and autumn.
