The Republic of Moldova aims to reduce the impact on the environment and human health by establishing a legal framework for the regulation of the circular economy, necessary to move to a sustainable development model, efficient in terms of resources, which will contribute to the reduction of gas emissions. The Republic of Moldova has increased its ambition to unconditionally reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 70% compared to the reference year 1990, by 2030, compared to 64-67%, as foreseen in the first version of the National Determined Contribution (2015) on the Paris Climate Agreement. If the country will have access to low-cost technologies and financial resources, the reduction of emissions could increase by 2030 to 88% compared to the reference year 1990. The benefits will be significant, resulting from the fact that a circular economy policy oriented towards the future, which will drive a fair and just transition to a green, climate-neutral economy, while creating opportunities for sustainable growth. |
