Introduction. The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved on March 15, 2022, the Public Administration Reform Strategy for the years 2023 – 2030. The authorities state that such a strategy was necessary to remove "the numerous structural problems, which may have negative consequences in the coming period" and is important in the context of Moldova's integration aspirations in the European Union. The purpose of the research is to study whether the Republic of Moldova has the chance to have an efficient, transparent and responsible central and local public administration, which will provide quality services to citizens and the business environment, ensuring the sustainable development of the country. Research methods are diverse: analytical, comparative, historical, deduction. The main results: The analysis of the content of the Strategy allowed the identification of the objectives and priority directions of the Strategy, the existence or lack of a concern regarding the efficiency of the activity of the public administration. The conclusions: the approval of the new public administration reform strategy is important in the context of the aspirations of the Republic of Moldova for integration into the European Union. The strategy enshrines and fixes certain problematic aspects in the field of public administration activity efficiency. By achieving the objectives set in the Strategy, we believe that the effort of the Republic of Moldova to integrate into the European Union space will be strengthened. Proposals: it is necessary to complete the Strategy with a clearer definition, in the sense of delimiting the principles of efficiency and effectiveness. The current concept and its definition are ambiguous and leave space for misinterpretations.
