The functional perspective looks at the problems specific to the management activity from the point of view of the organization's resources made available to the departments in order to achieve certain particular functions of the business. The process-oriented perspective is somewhat complementary to the functional perspective, seeking to optimize enterprise performance by improving the key processes that fundamentally define the enterprise's business. The functional perspective of management is useful for optimizing internal resources, while the process-oriented perspective concerns the coordination of the complex activity of the enterprise, which also involves external resources. The management of these processes in a unitary vision and in the sense imposed by process-oriented perspectives has generated a frequently used concept, that of business process management (Buisness Process Management). Although it is a long disputed term in the specialized literature, the definitions that various authors have provided are outlined based on the same idea of optimizing business processes through various specific means. |
