This presentation is intended to focus on a relatively new phenomenon, which is nowadays undertaking a wide scope in the process of euphemisation of the diplomatic discourse. Social network sites have seen a scale of expansion which was not envisaged a few years ago. As a result of this phenomenon we can notice the fusion of the more frequent use of social networks with the emphasis of populist policies in the world’s democracies which allows the emergence of such a phenomenon as twitter diplomacy, as a narrow niche of the country’s policy. This novice concept in the world’s diplomacy has far-reaching consequences, such as: unmediated contact with the recipients, avoiding the classical message-processing of the diplomatic discourse; direct contact with political leaders and the possibility to have an outspoken feedback from the recipient as well as this phenomenon is capable of generating uninhibited euphemisms. It is noteworthy that this phenomenon lays down the classical diplomacy and sprouts up a new populist diplomacy.
