The present article examines the literature on interventions through relaxation techniques and their role in decreasing anxiety levels in dancers. Finally, a case study was presented using Schultz's (1932) [19] Autogenic Training (AT) technique to decrease anxiety in an 18-year-old female dancer who was preparing to participate in a ballet competition. The intervention was carried out over three months, the level of anxiety eas measured pre-test and post-test using the 15-item Sports Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) (Reiner Martens, 1977) [12]. The results indicated a decrease in the competition anxiety level as a result of the AT practice. |
