The paper concerns the problems of fundamental science management. The difference between fundamental science and other fields of intellectual activity is discussed. It is shown that many methods used in managing the efficiency of financial assets or managing industrial production processes are not suitable for managing science. The dual role of scientometry is demonstrated. |
