Rezumat

Adults have good intentions towards their own children. Stressful situations, material deprivation, the multitude of tasks and personal emotional blockages can cause them to lose control and explode in unexpected moments towards the weakest and most unprotected: children. Child abuse by parents or other resources often leads to a desire to discipline children. The younger the children, the more unable they are to process cognitively and put into words what is happening, the more vulnerable they are, and the post-traumatic effects will act for a longer time. As they get older, children differentiate between abusive and socially desirable behaviors of their own parents compared to the parents of other children or other reference persons. Family violence is cyclical. Dutton presents violent people based on 3 categories: violent / antisocial people, borderline personalities and the emotionally unstable. Parents with borderline behavior and emotional settlements balance between tendencies to be emotionally close and offer support to harsh and abusive behaviors, compared to always violent parents. Abusive and emotionally stable behavior of adults can develop reactionary patterns in children exposed to violence. Consequently, children can take on different roles in the family: "guardian", "mother's confidant" or "father's", "perfect child", "arbiter child", "aggressor's assistant" or "scapegoat". In the case of chronic abusive parents, children learn survival or obedience strategies. Children exposed to abuse feel unmet personal needs, which influences emotional, behavioral and relational expression. They lose self-confidence and control over the situation, tend to neglect their own body or the pain caused by abuse, have a high level of stress and anxiety, exaggerated anxiety: expressed through anxiety and worry, which is usually generalized as an overreaction to a situation that is subjectively seen as threatening. The specialists from the multidisciplinary team must intervene in providing support for children, but also for adults in the family. Recovering from childhood traumas, informing children and adults with non-aggressive communication methods, developing skills in conflict resolution and negotiating solutions, learning disciplinary methods will develop a stable and trusting relationship between parents and children.
