Teza

The antimicrobial activity of newly synthetized homodrimane compounds containing 1,3,4- oxadiazole structural units 1-4 are reported (Fig.). The mentioned compounds belong to a group of hybrid terpeno-heterocyclic compounds, which is one of the recent topics of research of our group. Reported compounds were prepared form commercially available sclareolide in three steps and medium to high yields. All compounds were screened for their in vitroantifungal and antibacterial activities against pure culture of five fungi species (Aspergillus niger, Fusarium, Penicilliumchrysogenum, Penicilliumfrequentans, Alternariaalternata) and against both Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillussp.) and Gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Theoxadiazoles1-4 showed good to acceptable antibacterial and antifungal activity in comparison with the reference compounds Caspofungin and Kanamycin1,2. The results expressed in MIC values (minimum inhibitory concentration) are reported in Table. Table. Results of "in vitro" antibacterial and antifungal activity testing of compounds 1-4.References: 1.
