Rezumat

The key component of people's quality of life is given by the environment in which they live. A sustainable economy is based on maintaining clean air and water and protecting natural habitats. Within the article, an analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions at the European Union level is presented. Due to the environmental policies applied by the European Union, air, water and soil pollution has been significantly reduced. In terms of quality of life it is important to the pursuit of environmental indicators that provide information on the natural environment. From this point of view, the degree of exposure of the urban population to air pollution is analyzed. Pollution and environmental problems have adverse effects on the health and well-being of a community.
