Our objective is to illustrate the images that the garden flowers develop in Eminescu's work, published during his life. The floral elements taken from the folk literature (peony, lily , rose) have acquired in the poem of Mihai Eminescu symbolic values of high metaphorical density. In Eminescu’s work, with a single occurrence, the poetic sign of thepeonyenters into the structure of a comparison, as an element of association, representing mainly a visual image that suggests through its color intensitythe youth, health, terrestrial vigor of Cătălin:" With cheeks as two peonies"- ,,Cu obrăjei ca doi bujori”(Luceafarul. In the poem O călărire în zori - A journey at dawn, the poetic sign of thelilyrepresents a methaphorical construction, which expresses the fragility and purity on a white background, features attributed to the loved beauty:,,Și Chloris din roze își pune la salbe/ Pe fruntea-i de crin”- "And Chloris, from roses, puts on her hair / On her lily forehead". With one occurrence, the poetic sign ofdaffodil develops thepersonification: ,,Spreads the breath of the whitedaffodils/The divine balm - ,,Răspânde suflarea narciselor albe/ Balsamu-i divin (O călărire în zori, O. I, 3).In his creation druring his maturity, Mihai Eminescu distanced himself from the influence of the writers of the times, preferring the lexemof the rose. The physical appearance of the beloved being or of other "characters" is suggested by other terms - proud as a roses , the rose presents the suggestion of an intense emotional experience. |
