Rezumat

The rabies is an infectious, virulent disease, generally inoculable by a bite. This disease common to humans and most mammals is due to a neurotrophic rhabdovirus: the rabies virus. The objective of this survey was to establish the epidemiological characteristics and inadequacies of the veterinary and medical structures in the management of rabies. Eight prefectures and the special area of Conakry were the subject of this investigation. According to the surveys, between 2005 and 2010, 3697 cases of bites were reported to the veterinary services, of which 73.4% were people, 21.8% were livestock and 4.8% were dogs. For the same period in hospitals, 441 people were reported, only 15.9% were subjected to post-exposure prophylaxis and 10.7% showed signs of rabies. In the hygiene department, 61.5% of the evacuees were men, compared with 38.5% of women and 59.3% of adults, compared to 40.7% of young people. Compared to the place of origin, 80.6% came from Conakry against 1.2% of Boké. The calculated correlation coefficient (r = + 0.49) shows a positive correlation and low association between vaccination and morbidity. It is clear from the actors that there is almost no collaboration between the veterinary and public health services, rabies cases are reported in hospitals and rabies is not a priority disease and is recorded in the registers in other cases.
