Rezumat

The Soviet subversive movement in Bessarabia constituted, according to American dignitaries, one of the most important aspects of the Bessarabian problem in the interwar period. Specifically, this aspect of the phenomenon, together with the place of Bessarabia in the international context of the interwar period, was the one which interested the Americans the most. The interest in this aspect was due to the aversion which with the US contemplated Bolshevism, a current they considered to be a threat to contemporary civilization and Western societies. The negative attitude towards this political phenomenon has been strongly manifested within the United States as well since the beginning of the 1920s coincided with the peak of the anti-socialist and anticommunist manifestations and dispositions known as First Red Scare. Namely in the context of this intransigent opposition of the Americans to everything that meant communism, it is interesting to observe the attitude of the United States in relation to Soviet attempts to destabilize Bessarabia through their agents sent over the Nistru River and through the instigation of the locals, especially of the representatives of the minorities, to acts of violence against authorities.
