Coordination polymers attract great attention and are intensively studied due to their potential application as materials for gas sorption and separation, catalysts, molecular sensors, etc. [1-3]. One of the design approaches in the synthesis of coordination polymers is based on combination of different multifunctional caTboxylates, suitable to coordination in chelate and bridging fashion with rigid rod-like oxo-bidentate N-containing ligands. The interaction of Zn(NO3)2-6H2O with 1,2,3-benzenetricarboxylic acid (1,2,3- H3BTC) and 4,4'bis(lH-imidazoyl-1-yl)biphenyl (BIBP) using hydrothe1mal condition results in tape-like 1D coordination polymer. The triply deprotonated 1,2,3- BTC coordinates to three different Zn(II) - atoms in monodentate manner. Each metal coordinates three 1,2,3- BTC3 ligands, which doublebridge the neighbouring metals form 14-membered metallocycles. The conjugated metallocycles f01m tape stmcture, Fig.I. The monoprotonated monodentate H-BIBP+ ligand completes the tetrahedral O3N smTounding of Zn(II). The Zn-O distances are in the range 1.969(3) - 1.985(3) A and Zn-N equals 1.986( 4) A. In the crystal the tapes mutually interdigitate due to stacking interactions of aromatic moieties and N-H-··O (-x, -y+l, -z+2) (N-H 0.86 A, H-··O 1.92 A, N···O 2.720 A, L155°) hydrogen bonds and fo1m well defined layer, Fig.2. |
