Rezumat

Improving the quality of the urban environment and the development of feasible local infrastructure have become priority objectives for most of the world's countries. So, the urban ecosystem has special parameters compared to other territories generating specific ecological phenomena. Contrary to global trends, urbanization in the Republic of Moldova has stalled in the last decade of the 20th century as a direct result of the demographic decline and now only shows modest signs of restoration. For the Republic of Moldova, it is necessary to develop balanced cities in interaction with sustainable social and economic development throughout the country. In this paper were presented and analyzed the policies and measures of urban ecological transitions of Moldavian cities in the context of climatic objectives meant to provide the inhabitants with a better quality of life and at the same time a local economic development without destroying the local resources. The effectiveness of the policies and efforts of the Republic of Moldova on housing insurance and the sustainable development of human settlements was analyzed. Moldova has experienced moderate progress in respecting and applying environmental standards and requirements. In order to develop sustainable cities, Moldova needs to adopt a local change and reorientation that takes into account citizens' needs and ecological vision for cities of the future.
