Rezumat

The emergence of the state of Moldavia, after dominating the territory for a long time by different peoples, led to the establishment of the power of some rulers, who set the beginning of the issue of currency on the territory of the Romanian medieval countries. In Moldova, the first ruler who issued the silver coin (from latin „grossus”) was Peter II Muşat, who ruled the state between 1375 and 1391. The first monetary issues date back to 1977. The affirmation of the monetary system constituted a crucial moment not only in the economic history, but also in the political history of the country, as proof of a step, however advanced, of the social-economic and political development of the state and a sign of the strengthening of its sovereignty. The monetary system initiated by Peter II Muşat continued to function in the 15th century.
