With the increased focus of the international community on achieving the Sustainable Development Objectives, attention has focused on the importance of various forms of foreign capital flows and their effectiveness in achieving these objectives. This paper analyzes the impact of remittances and foreign direct investment on economic growth in the Member States of the European Union and in countries with a migratory behavior similar to the countries of Eastern Europe such as the Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine and Turkey, and as a criterion for clustering we used the external labor mobility rate using panel data. The research was conducted by applying OLS to panel data on remittance and FDI inflows and GDP/inhabitant with the introduction of fixed and random effects and testing the correctness of the chosen model was done through the Hausman tests and Breusch-Pagan with the Lagrange multiplier. As a result of the econometric analysis, we conclude that the remittance inflows exert significant influence among the states with a higher external mobility rate and a lower GDP per capita, and the FDI inflows have impact only in the case of developing countries, whose GDP per capita does not exceed $ 10000. |
