The action of 1-methyl cyclopropene (1-MCP) has been studied during the treatment of several apple varieties: Jonagold, Idared,Golden Delicious, Reinette Simirenko.Two concentrations were used for comparison: 68 mg/mł and 136 mg/mł. It was identified, that after the treatment with 1-MCP the degree of starch hydrolization is less comparing tocontrol. Titration acidity diminished during the storageof treated fruits, the firmness was higher in the treated fruits. Therewere no significant differences between the two used doses. A variety of factors must be taken into consideration when using 1-MCP, especially the cultivar, development stage,time for harvest, multiple applications, etc.
