Rezumat

The species was populated in some forests (Comana, Râioasa, Ciornuleasa, Poroschia and Podu Pitarului) of the Romanian Plain on the territories of Giurgiu Ilfov, Călăraşi and Teleorman counties during 1955-1983. The first specimens were brought in from Timiş, Argeş and Ilfov counties. Some populations nuclei have disappeared because of climate changes (Ciornuleasa), or human intervention (Poroschia, Râioasa and Comana). Some Fallow Deer were seen to migrate north of the Danube, from Bulgaria, and remain at Chiselet near Olteniţa Town. The only micro-population still existing today lives in the forests adjoining Podu Pitarului (Călăraşi County) not far away from Bucharest.
