Rezumat

The article reveals general problems of military strategy and tactics of the ancient world. It describes the military specifics of the Thracian Getae neighboring peoples, as well as those they had military conflicts throughout history – Greeks, Macedonians, Scythians, Romans. It defines different methods of warfare of nomadic and sedentary worlds. For the sedentary that has built fortifications and defense accommodations is characteristic defensive tactics combined with indirect military operations - withdrawal, surround, harassment and the horseback riding nomads - an indirect war of attack-retreat.
