Many researches on plum varieties in Azerbaijan revealed that different plum varieties have been distributed in various regions of Azerbaijan. Local varieties of Azerbaijan plums basically have been widespread in Shirvan region of Gharabagh area, Ordubad region of Nakhchivan Republic also Khachmaz and some other regions. Domestic of varieties have high yield potential, good quality, special taste and some other noticeable characters too. Native people traditionally use plum fruits by various methods, such as: fresh fruit, dried fruit, other types of food (compote, jam, jelly etc.) and also people use them as medicinal plants. Local varieties have various ripening dates and show different and noticeable resistance to some plant diseases.
