As major literature movements, Humanism and Enlightenment were developing throughout Europe – however late entering the in Romanian countries – they were Dimitrie Cantemir and Ion Budai-Deleanu the two major personalities that played an important role in making the Romanian culture / literature accessible and open towards Europeanism. Their creations are marked as pioneers in the field of literary species: Istoria ieroglifică – novel and Țiganiada – epopee and each of the two is preceded by an accompanying text that enhances biographical and cultural similarities. |
