Acute cholecystitis in elderly patients, peculiarities of diagnosis and treatment 125 patients treated in surgical clinic, Municipal Hospital Chişinău No. 1 from January 2008 to December 2009 were included in the study. The aim of the study was comparative analyzsis between methods of diagnosis and treatment in geriatric patients. Was established, that the most effective method of diagnosis is ultrasound examination, which it was used in most cases. Another methods were used with the aim to acurately put the diagnosis. After surgical treatment the best results were achieved in cases with active tactics. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a safe procedure and should be recommended for geriatric patients who have acute cholecystitis due to cholelithiasis before the development of complications.
