The paper deals with a cross-classification of noun phraseological synonyms in terms of lexical components and thematic patterns both in English and Romanian. Our aim is to provide the reader with a contrastive survey of the behavior of the most frequently used phraseological Romanian expressions and their English equivalents,
trying to pin down, for the first time, the resemblances and dissimilarities that distinguish the two series. |
